BIRTH CERTIFICATE UK APOSTILLE
Things to remember
It is not possible to issue the apostille on a photocopy or scanned version of the document. Even if a UK Birth Certificate has been signed by a solicitor or Notary Public it is not acceptable for an apostille.
We can only issue apostilles on original (signed by the Registrar) or General Register Office Certified Copies.
There are two versions of the UK Birth Certificate.
Short Version – A brief and simple form. It details the child’s name, date and place of birth.
Long Version – further details showing names of the child’s parents, etc.
We ALWAYS recommend sending the Long Version to receive an apostille certificate. However, if you send the Short Version, we will assume this is the Version you need to have apostilled.
It IS possible to apostille a photocopy of a foreign Birth Certificate, so long as the copy has been certified by a UK Registered/Practicing Solicitor.
